The project serves as a strategic play for the premium travel retail market, where consumers increasingly prioritize collectible, experience-led purchases. Pacula, known for her long-exposure-inspired oil paintings, spent time in each featured city to distill its atmosphere into abstract, layered visuals. These designs, which prominently feature hand-painted nods to the distillery's signature red wax seal, aim to offer a personal souvenir that outlasts the trip itself.
Rob Samuels, eighth-generation whisky maker and managing director at Maker's Mark, noted that the series reflects the brand’s commitment to artisanal craft. The collection’s rollout begins this July in Sydney, Melbourne, Singapore, and Seoul. August arrivals are scheduled for London and Paris, with the final phase reaching Dubai, Delhi, Mumbai, New York, and Los Angeles in September. According to Ashish Sagar of Suntory Global Spirits, the series provides a unique proposition for airport retail, distinguishing the brand in a competitive landscape through a blend of fine art and spirits.
