The deal delivers an immediate 7% raise, retroactive to July 1, alongside a $1,500 lump-sum payment. Over the life of the contract, workers will see compounded wage increases averaging 37%. Beyond base salary gains, the agreement introduces longevity bonuses and secures critical protections against rising costs, including caps on health care premium hikes and parking fee increases. Employees also secured an additional paid personal day and expanded bereavement leave.
Toni Mendicino, an administrative officer at UC Berkeley and union steward with 28 years of service, described the deal as the most substantial she has witnessed during her tenure. Jason Rabinowitz, Secretary-Treasurer of Local 2010, credited the outcome to the unified mobilization of the workforce, which the union now positions as a benchmark for public sector employment standards nationwide.
