During an appearance on Watch What Happens Live, Marcille characterized the docuseries as a shady project. She stated that she was intentionally excluded from the production because her perspective would have contradicted the narrative producers sought to construct. Marcille remains firm in her stance, asserting that Banks successfully revolutionized the modeling industry by challenging traditional expectations regarding appearance and sound.
Banks filed her lawsuit claiming that Netflix utilized only 16 minutes of a three-hour interview, cutting essential context to frame her in a negative light. While Banks admitted in the documentary that elements of the show became intense and spun out of control, she maintains that the final edit crossed the line into deception. Legal analyst Rachel Bennett noted that for Banks to prevail, she must demonstrate that the editing process created claims that are objectively false, a high bar given the broad creative latitude typically afforded to producers of unscripted television.
