XREAL Launches $299 a01+ AR Glasses for Mainstream Entertainment

Priced at $299, the new a01+ glasses from XREAL’s sub-brand attempt to bring large-scale augmented reality to a broader consumer market. By stripping away built-in cameras and focusing on display quality, the company aims to position the device as a pocket-sized personal cinema for phones, laptops, and handheld gaming consoles.

The a01+ weighs 62 grams and features dual-layer Micro-OLED displays capable of hitting 1,600 nits of peak brightness. To maintain visual fidelity, the hardware utilizes an ARView Image Engine and a proprietary spatial stabilization algorithm, which works to keep the virtual 147-inch screen steady during movement. The device supports a 120Hz refresh rate and HDR10 content, with real-time SDR-to-HDR conversion included to sharpen the output from existing mobile devices.

CEO Chi Xu described the launch as a push to make spatial technology feel more personal and accessible. Beyond the technical specs, the company prioritized ergonomics by analyzing over 2,000 facial profiles to refine the nose pad geometry. The glasses have also received TÜV Rheinland certifications for eye comfort and low blue light emissions. Starting today, the a01+ is available through major retail outlets including Amazon, Best Buy, B&H, and Micro Center.
