The Mix Buddy serves as a central command hub, featuring seven dual-mono or stereo unbalanced inputs alongside a dedicated tube-powered microphone preamp. Channels one through four provide high-gain circuitry for vintage gear, while channels five through seven operate at unity gain. A notable design element is the "thru" mode, which allows users to convert input rows into patch points for external effects pedals or outboard hardware. The unit also includes a balanced stereo input and dual master outputs, utilizing both transformer-based and transformerless paths for varied sonic textures.
Complementing the mixer is the TUBESTRIP, a rack-mounted device designed for deep sound shaping. It offers up to 60 dB of gain and allows users to morph between triode, pentode, and UltraLinear modes. The signal path includes a three-band inductor-based parametric EQ and a dual-compression stage, featuring both a Vari-Mu tube compressor and a smooth optical compressor with de-essing capabilities. The order of the EQ and compression stages can be swapped, providing further flexibility for tracking and mixing applications.
