The AXIS family offers three display configurations, featuring either 11.6-inch landscape or 8-inch portrait and landscape touchscreens. By integrating an IFR GPS, NAV/COMM radio, and audio panel into a single housing, the system minimizes aircraft weight and streamlines the panel layout. The units are designed to reuse existing G3X Touch mounting points and panel cutouts, providing a clear upgrade path for current Garmin users.
Safety remains a core focus of the platform, incorporating Garmin’s Synthetic Vision Technology and 3D SafeTaxi for enhanced situational awareness in terminal environments. Pilots also gain access to Smart Glide technology, which can assist in navigating to a suitable airport during engine power loss. For engine management, the system provides real-time, color-coded data and integrates with the PlaneSync service to automate flight log uploads and database updates via Wi-Fi or LTE.
Garmin’s Team X division tailored the experimental versions of the displays to allow for greater flexibility in custom builds. The 11.6-inch TSO-certified displays are scheduled for release this July, with the 8-inch variants expected to follow in early 2027. The system will be supported by an expansive FAA Supplemental Type Certificate, covering hundreds of common piston-powered single and twin-engine aircraft models.
