The expansion comes as recent Mintel data indicates that nearly a quarter of U.S. consumers fear they are falling short of their protein needs. To bridge this gap, the Emeryville-based brand is rolling out the new product nationwide this July, with availability confirmed at major retailers including Walmart and Amazon. Each 220-calorie bottle contains only 2 grams of sugar and includes vitamins C and E to provide antioxidant support.
Becca Hart, Brand Director at Premier Protein, noted that the product was developed in direct response to consumer feedback requesting more efficient ways to increase daily intake. The shake launches in four flavors: Chocolate, Vanilla, Strawberry, and Café Latte, the latter of which provides a caffeine boost equivalent to a standard cup of coffee. By increasing the protein density to 42 grams per serving, the company intends to simplify nutritional planning for its user base.
