Bristle Health and Dentistry. One Link Microbiome Testing to Clinical Care

By integrating saliva-based microbiome analysis with a national teledental network, Bristle Health and Dentistry. One are attempting to shift oral care from reactive treatment to a data-driven, preventive model. The partnership connects patients directly from diagnostic screening to personalized coaching and, when necessary, clinical intervention.

The collaboration leverages Bristle’s diagnostic platform, which profiles over 800 species of oral bacteria and fungi to identify the microbial origins of tooth decay, gum inflammation, and halitosis. These tests often detect imbalances before physical symptoms appear. Under the new agreement, users transition from these test results to Dentistry. One’s coaching program, where professionals interpret the data to create actionable home-care and lifestyle plans.

When data indicates a clinical need, the platform facilitates virtual consultations with dentists. For issues requiring physical examination or intervention, the coordination team manages referrals to local providers. This closed-loop system aims to bridge the gap between diagnostic insights and systemic health management, as oral bacteria are frequently linked to conditions such as heart disease, diabetes, and Alzheimer's.

Brant Herman, CEO of Dentistry. One, noted that this precision allows for a new standard in preventive care, while Bristle co-founder Shivam Patel emphasized that the partnership provides the necessary navigation to turn raw data into improved patient outcomes. Starting July 1, the service is available to Bristle users directly through their platform, with plans to expand the integration into employer and health plan programs in the near future.
