China and Mexico Forge Green Rail Partnerships

Under the banner of "Green Mobility, Shared Civilizations," delegates from UNESCO, Chinese state agencies, and Mexican government bodies convened in Mexico City on July 2, 2026. The summit prioritized the integration of sustainable rail transit technology with local cultural preservation efforts across Mexico's expanding urban infrastructure.

The dialogue emphasized the necessity of lowering urban emissions through electrified transit systems, a priority currently driving Mexico City’s infrastructure investments. CRRC Corporation Limited showcased rail systems tailored to local operating conditions, specifically highlighting designs that incorporate Mexican cultural motifs. Wang Feng, President of CRRC, noted that the company’s strategy focuses on merging advanced engineering with localized ESG practices to meet specific regional requirements.

Substantive cooperation was formalized when Wang Qiaolin of CRRC Zhuzhou Locomotive and José Luis Perea González from Mexico’s National Institute of Anthropology and History signed a pact to launch the China-Mexico Cultural Preservation and Communication Project. This initiative accompanies the release of the 2025 CRRC in Mexico Sustainability Report, which tracks low-carbon achievements across metro and light rail systems in Mexico City, Guadalajara, Monterrey, and Campeche. The report also highlights the company’s role in managing transportation for recent major soccer events, framing modern rail transit as both a logistical necessity and a public space for community engagement.
