Phil Crawford appointed Chief Technology Officer at International Dairy Queen

After a career shaping digital infrastructure at Shake Shack and CKE Restaurants, retail technology veteran Phil Crawford has joined International Dairy Queen as Executive Vice President and CTO. He now assumes responsibility for the technical operations and commerce ecosystem across the company’s global network of 7,800 restaurant locations.

Based at the company’s franchisee support center in Minneapolis, Crawford replaces retiring executive Kevin Baartman. His mandate involves guiding the brand’s transition toward a unified, scalable digital infrastructure designed to bridge the gap between drive-thru, delivery, and in-restaurant service models.

Before this appointment, Crawford directed global food, beverage, and hospitality verticals for Adyen. His resume includes previous tenures as CIO or CTO at prominent brands such as Godiva Chocolatier and Yard House Restaurants. International Dairy Queen CEO Troy Bader cited Crawford’s history of restaurant-focused technical leadership as a primary driver for the hire, emphasizing the need to modernize consumer engagement as the brand continues its international expansion.
