MacLean Power Systems to Acquire Brazil’s Indel Bauru

Fort Mill-based MacLean Power Systems has signed a definitive agreement to acquire Indel Bauru, a Brazilian manufacturer specializing in electrical fuse links. The deal, slated to close in the third quarter of 2026, aims to integrate Indel’s grid protection technology into the parent company’s existing infrastructure portfolio.

Founded in 1987 in Bauru, Brazil, Indel Bauru has built a market reputation for producing essential components that mitigate short circuits and overcurrents within power distribution networks. By folding the company into its operations, MacLean Power Systems intends to strengthen its footprint in South America while leveraging Indel’s established supply chain in the U.S. market.

Steve Scharnhorst, CEO of MacLean Power Systems, confirmed that the acquisition includes the transition of leadership, with Alexandre Brustello set to join the organization as Vice President and General Manager of Bauru Operations. The move signals a strategic push by MacLean to consolidate its position in the utility sector by diversifying its product offerings for transmission and distribution maintenance.
