Grieftech Startup Pathpal Raises Capital and Names Travis Allan Partner

Toronto-based Pathpal has secured a growth equity investment led by TA Group, marking a strategic push to scale its proactive grief-support platform. Alongside the funding, the company appointed Travis Allan as Managing Partner to spearhead an aggressive expansion across North America and prepare for future international growth.

Founded in 2024 by CEO Negin Chelehmalzadeh, Pathpal operates on the premise that grief and major life transitions are universal human experiences rather than clinical conditions requiring post-event therapy. By embedding support into corporate environments before crises arise, the platform aims to address the massive productivity losses associated with presenteeism and absenteeism. Current estimates suggest that unaddressed mental health and grief-related struggles cost U.S. employers nearly $400 billion annually, with Canadian firms facing billions in lost productivity.

Pathpal’s model fills a void left by traditional medical systems, which often prioritize acute crisis response over continuous, proactive care. The company’s data indicates that nearly half of bereaved adults risk developing prolonged grief disorder when left without adequate community or resources. With the new capital and Allan’s operational expertise—gained from his tenure at Sentinel Dock & Door Solutions—the company plans to deepen its enterprise partnerships throughout 2026. This leadership shift signals a broader industry move to treat employee wellbeing as essential infrastructure rather than a reactive benefit.
