Wright Flood to Manage First Insurance Co. of Hawaii Flood Policies

The nation's largest flood insurance provider, Wright National Flood Insurance Company, has secured an agreement to acquire the flood policy book from the First Insurance Company of Hawaii. Starting this fall, Wright Flood will take over servicing, administration, and issuance of all National Flood Insurance Program coverage for the Honolulu-based firm’s clients.

This transition marks a significant consolidation in the Hawaiian market, as Wright Flood assumes responsibility for the largest NFIP portfolio in the state. First Insurance Company of Hawaii, an institution dating back to 1911 and a member of the Tokio Marine Group, sought a partner with deep industry specialization to maintain its service standards. Lance Kawano, senior vice president at FICOH, noted that the move ensures their policyholders retain access to expert underwriting and personalized support during the transition.

Wright Flood, currently rated A (Excellent) by AM Best, brings over four decades of focus on federal flood insurance to the partnership. Patricia Templeton-Jones, CEO of Wright National Flood Insurance Services, emphasized that the collaboration combines FICOH’s long-standing local market presence with Wright’s technical infrastructure. For retail agents currently working through FICOH, the operational shift is designed to be minimal, with Wright Flood handling all new policy issuances and renewals beginning later this year.
