SkyDefense Unveils CobraJet for Autonomous Counter-Drone Defense

Brighton-based SkyDefense, Inc. has introduced CobraJet, an AI-powered VTOL aircraft designed to neutralize hostile drone swarms. The modular, 3D-printed jet utilizes a hybrid propulsion system and specialized air-to-air munitions to protect critical infrastructure, military assets, and public venues from evolving aerial threats in contested environments.

The CobraJet platform features a carbon-fiber core and comes in five configurations, ranging from the V4 to the heavy-duty VT10. Depending on the mission, the craft utilizes electric duct fan motors reaching 360 kph or gas-powered turbojets capable of 560 kph. Its agility is supported by thrust-vectoring nozzles and an AI-driven autopilot that integrates NDAA-compliant sensors for all-weather operation. The V10 and VT10 models further extend utility by acting as "motherships" for smaller interceptors housed in an internal weapons bay.

Defense capabilities rely on a suite of attritable munitions, including the 18mm COPPERHEAD, 40mm CUDA guided rounds, and the supersonic 45mm VIPER missile. These are managed through the VRAM command system, which allows operators to maintain oversight while utilizing SmartVision visual navigation and anti-jamming technology. President Nick Verini emphasized that these munitions are engineered for mass production via 3D printing to ensure high-volume availability. Field testing is scheduled for the final quarter of 2026, with full-scale production expected to commence in early 2027.
