Costa Coffee Shuffles Executive Leadership and Expands Drive-Thru Footprint

Costa Coffee has overhauled its global executive team, appointing Matthew Sisk as Chief Financial Officer and Jez Langhorn as Chief People Officer. The leadership changes coincide with the company’s aggressive push into the UK drive-thru market, where it recently celebrated the opening of its 400th roadside location in Norwich.

Matthew Sisk is set to join the coffee chain on September 1st, transitioning from his previous role as CFO for Coca-Cola in Japan and South Korea. He steps into the position as his predecessor moves to a new role within the parent company, The Coca-Cola Company. Joining him on the leadership team, Jez Langhorn takes the helm as Chief People Officer, bringing extensive HR experience from major brands including Starbucks North America and McDonald’s.

The organizational shift follows the departure of Ed Child, who served as Global Head of Consumer Data and Digital Analytics for five years. Child led the company’s internal data community and digital strategy, citing a desire to pursue new opportunities closer to his home in Yorkshire.

Beyond personnel changes, Costa Coffee continues to prioritize its UK property strategy. With 400 drive-thru sites now active, the company plans to add up to 40 additional locations by 2026. Nick Ridley, Property and Store Development Director, noted that these sites serve evolving customer needs for convenience, particularly during school runs and commutes. While the company operates over 2,800 stores nationwide, the drive-thru model remains a primary growth engine, supported by a 6.7% increase in similar sites across the UK industry over the past year.
