SoCalGas and U.S.VETS Mark Independence Day at March Air Reserve Base

At the U.S.VETS Inland Empire campus on March Air Reserve Base, approximately 150 veterans and their families gathered today for a commemorative Fourth of July celebration. The event, hosted by Southern California Gas Company, marked the nation’s 250th anniversary while providing a space for community and recognition of military service.

The Inland Empire campus currently provides housing for more than 400 veterans, serving as a critical hub in the ongoing effort to address veteran homelessness. With over 32,000 veterans estimated to be unhoused nationwide on any given night, organizers emphasized that these community events are essential for fostering connection and long-term stability for those who have served.

SoCalGas employees volunteered throughout the afternoon, serving a barbecue meal and facilitating activities such as cornhole and tabletop games. Paul Goldstein, vice president of supply chain and support operations at SoCalGas, noted that the collaboration aims to create a welcoming environment where veterans feel genuinely supported. Nicole Starks-Murray, executive director of U.S.VETS Inland Empire, praised the utility company’s ongoing investment in workforce development and housing initiatives, which assist veterans in their transition to independent living.
