The two organizations, working alongside their Public Engagement, Trust and Confidence Committee, intend to use the upcoming semiquincentennial as a catalyst for renewed civic education. By launching local courthouse events and educational partnerships, the judiciary aims to demystify its function within the constitutional democracy and bridge the gap between legal institutions and the public.
"State courts play a vital role in protecting constitutional rights, resolving disputes fairly and impartially and preserving public confidence in the rule of law," the groups noted in their official declaration. To support this initiative, the National Center for State Courts will provide resources and identify best practices for courts looking to deepen community engagement throughout the commemorative year.
