Shell finalizes $1.3 billion sale of Jiffy Lube to Monomoy Capital

Shell USA has offloaded its Jiffy Lube International business and the Premium Velocity Auto chain to an affiliate of Monomoy Capital Partners for $1.3 billion. The divestment marks the end of a two-decade ownership period as the energy giant streamlines its U.S. lubricants portfolio to focus on core assets.

The transaction includes the Jiffy Lube brand and its extensive network of franchised service centers. While Monomoy Capital Partners takes control of the brand and the 360 locations operated by Premium Velocity Auto, Shell remains a key player in the lubricants market. The company has retained ownership of brands such as Pennzoil Quaker State and Rotella, and will continue to manage the manufacturing and distribution of lubricants across North America. To ensure continuity for the service network, Pennzoil Quaker State Company has secured a long-term lubricants supply agreement with Monomoy.

Jiffy Lube accounted for approximately 6.5% of the total volume of Shell’s lubricants business in the U.S. and Canada. By shedding this non-core asset, Shell aims to sharpen its operational focus. The company continues to maintain a massive footprint in the United States, operating a network of 12,000 branded fuel stations and holding significant interests in deep-water production and energy trading.
