MDT Unveils AMR4020VD Sensor for Compact Industrial Motion Control

MultiDimension Technology has introduced the AMR4020VD, a high-precision magnetic scale sensor IC designed to streamline industrial motion control. By enabling both parallel and perpendicular PCB mounting, the device addresses traditional alignment constraints, offering engineers new flexibility for high-performance encoders, robotics, and CNC machinery applications.

The AMR4020VD leverages an advanced sensor architecture paired with a compact DFN21L package measuring 6 by 2 by 1.5 millimeters. This design allows for parallel PCB mounting relative to magnetic scales or rings, a departure from conventional edge-mounting requirements that often complicate system integration. By optimizing board space and simplifying routing, the sensor supports more consistent air-gap control during assembly, which enhances overall manufacturing yields.

Engineered for rugged environments, the sensor operates within a temperature range of -40°C to +125°C and maintains immunity to external magnetic fields up to 1500 Gauss. It features differential sine/cosine outputs to facilitate high-resolution position interpolation and supports air gaps of approximately 1 millimeter. These specifications make it suitable for a variety of demanding sectors, including semiconductor manufacturing and precision positioning systems.
