SGS Launches Compass to Automate Supply Chain Risk Management

Global testing firm SGS has introduced a cloud-based platform, SGS Compass, designed to provide companies with real-time visibility into supplier compliance and risk. The tool integrates AI, IoT, and blockchain to help organizations navigate geopolitical shifts and increasing demands for ethical, sustainable supply chain practices across multiple tiers.

The platform categorizes suppliers into four distinct risk tiers, creating a centralized database for audits, ISO certifications, and sustainability scores. By leveraging predictive analytics, the system allows businesses to monitor production integrity and potential disruptions before they escalate. This development addresses a widespread industry blind spot where many corporations struggle to track their tier-one suppliers, let alone sub-contractors further down the chain.

Pablo Lomeli, Vice President of Supply Chain Solutions at SGS North America, noted that current geopolitical volatility is forcing companies to localize or regionalize their networks. Compass serves as a response to this restructuring, providing the data-driven insights necessary to maintain governance and performance standards. The initiative aligns with SGS's Strategy 27, which prioritizes digital innovation and ESG-focused compliance to meet both investor and consumer expectations for ethical sourcing.
