Cardinal Infrastructure Group Opens First Asphalt Plant in Raleigh

Near Raleigh, North Carolina, Cardinal Infrastructure Group has finished construction on its inaugural asphalt processing plant, a facility capable of churning out 400 tons of hot mix per hour. The move marks a strategic shift for the Nasdaq-listed firm as it moves to consolidate control over its supply chain.

The new facility allows Cardinal to bypass third-party suppliers, granting the company direct oversight of mix design, production scheduling, and material quality. By bringing production in-house, the firm aims to sharpen its performance on tight project timelines across the Southeast. Jeremy Spivey, the company’s Chairman and CEO, described the plant as a natural progression in their vertical integration strategy, emphasizing that total control over logistics provides a distinct competitive advantage for their infrastructure projects. Cardinal, which operates as a full-service provider in the region, continues to rely on a self-performing model that utilizes its own specialized fleets and labor force to execute large-scale civil and site-development work.
