Canal Insurance Names Matt Bell as New CFO

Bell assumes the position with over two decades of insurance industry experience. His tenure at Canal began in July 2013, during which he took on roles of increasing responsibility within the finance department. Before joining the company, he held positions in insurance operations and accounting at IBM and Pioneer Investments. President and CEO Paul Brocklebank emphasized that Bell’s performance and deep understanding of the business earned him the full confidence of the leadership team.

Bell holds a Bachelor of Science in Financial Management from Bob Jones University and an MBA from the University of Massachusetts. A Certified Public Accountant in South Carolina, he maintains active memberships with the AICPA and the Upstate CFO Council, while serving as a board member for the IASA Carolinas Chapter. The transition marks the end of a six-year partnership between the outgoing and incoming executives, a period characterized by a focused effort to maintain the firm’s financial discipline.
