Sabanto and Verdant Robotics Merge Autonomy With Precision Spraying

Farmers can now operate tractors without a cab presence, as Sabanto’s retrofit autonomy system integrates directly with Verdant Robotics’ SharpShooter. By linking navigation to plant-level application, the combined platform automates field management, allowing tractors to identify weeds and adjust speed or implement height without human intervention.

The integration connects Sabanto’s Autonomy System—which utilizes high-precision GNSS and path-planning—to the SharpShooter via the tractor’s CAN bus. This data exchange allows the system to mimic a skilled operator by making real-time adjustments based on field conditions. The collaboration is currently active in commercial settings, including sod production at Bethel Farms, where it has demonstrated the ability to maintain consistent performance across demanding environments.

By leveraging Aim & Apply technology, the system delivers inputs only to specific plants, a shift from traditional field-wide spraying. This reduction in chemical usage, combined with the removal of manual labor requirements, addresses two of the most significant overhead costs in modern agriculture. Because the setup is designed as a retrofit, it remains compatible with a wide range of existing tractor models, allowing growers to upgrade their current fleets rather than purchasing specialized autonomous machinery.
