The shift follows two years of relentless rainfall that devastated the Taquari Valley in 2023 and 2024. Traditional monitoring methods, which relied on physical gauges near the water, proved insufficient during extreme weather as equipment was frequently submerged or damaged. Working with system integrator Infosat and distributor Tecline, Muçum deployed a solution combining video imaging with millimeter-wave radar capable of measuring water levels from up to 40 meters away.
This elevated installation ensures the sensors remain operational even during severe flood events. The system provides millimeter-level precision, sending automated alerts to emergency teams the moment water reaches predefined thresholds. Alongside the monitoring cameras, five Hikvision Network Speakers were installed in vulnerable neighborhoods to broadcast direct evacuation warnings to residents. Management of the entire network is handled via the HikCentral Professional platform, which aggregates live video, historical data, and threshold alerts into a single command center. Since the deployment, the municipality reports an 80% increase in data accuracy, allowing for proactive risk assessment rather than reactive damage control.
